STC Jumps Fest – A Vaulting HOT Time!

Gosh it was hot! Hot! 96 degrees HOT!
But a great time was had by all at the 3rd Annual Shocker Track Club Jumps Fest!

Shocker Track Club Elite Team Member, Jack Whitt, won the Elite Competition with a vault of 5.30m – 17′-4-1/2″.  2016 Latvian Olympian, Pauls Pujats, finished 2nd at the same height.  Former Central Missouri Vaulter, Brittany Kallenberger, won the Women’s Elite competition with a vault of 3.18m, 12′-6″.

Individual competition winners were –
– Men’s Elite – Jack Whitt, Shocker Track Club Elite, 5.30m – 17′-4-1/2″
– Women’s Elite – Brittany Kallenberger, Unattached, 3.81m – 12′-6″
– Open/Youth Men – Kristopher Wood, Shocker Track Club Youth, 4.27m – 14′-0″
– Women’s Open – Sammy Van Hoecke, Unattached, 3.66m, 12′-0″
– Youth Girls – Breanna Schmitz, Tailwind Pole Vault Club, 3.35m, 10′-11-3/4″

Heartland Golden Games a Windy Blast!

A beautiful, but breezy, day provided an opportunity for the Heartland Golden Games – USATF Missouri Valley Association 2017 Senior Masters Outdoor Championship Meet – to be held at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.

Sixty-five senior athletes competed in the meet sponsored by the Shocker Track Club Masters Team.

Shocker Track Club Masters Team Members Grant Overstake, Claire Overstake, Steve Wilson, Joe Hoover, Kirk Burgess, Ron Ewy, Bill Butterworth, Maureen Bryand, and Larry Staton laced up their spikes for an exciting day of competition!

STC Elite and Open Team Members Compete in WSU KT Woodman

STC Open Team Member Tobias Boese finished 2nd in the Decathlon with 6680 points!

STC Open Team Member Dylan Reimer won the Javelin competition with a throw of 64.68m (212′-2″)!
STC Elite Team Member Joshua Manuel finished 26th in the 100m (10.88) and 27th in the 200m (21.87).
STC Open Team Member Aaron Babbidge finished 32nd in the 100m (10.99) and 32nd in the 200m (22.01).

STC Open Team Member Alex James finished 60th in the 100m (11.89).

STC Elite, Open, and Road Racing Athletes Get Busy!

Shocker Track Club Elite, Open and Road Racing athletes took advantage of sunny days in Santa Barbara (yes, you read that correctly), Wichita, and Lincoln, Nebraska, to post scores and times worthy of attention today!

Austin Bahner competed in the Decathlon in the Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational in Santa Barbara, California, and finished 2nd with 7441 points!

STC Open Team Sprinters Joshua Manuel (100m – 10.53w and 200m – 21.72w) and Aaron Babbidge (100m – 10.76w and 200m – 22.03w) stayed home to compete in the Friends University Invitational.  See below for photos of Joshua and Aaron in action!

Shocker Track Club Road Racing Elite Team Member Tonya Nero finished 1st in the Women’s competition (44:08.2), and Open Team Members Curtis Rierson  finished 2nd in the Men’s competition (45:10.6) and Emily Maier finished 17th overall (54:23.60) competed in the Hiawatha Hustle 12K event!

STC Open Team Javelin Thrower Dylan Reimer traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Husker Spring Invitational.  Reimer posted a season-best of 65.52m (214′-11″)!

Attention Masters Sprinters – Wichita State KT Woodman Track Classic

Calling all Masters Sprinters!  The Wichita State University KT Woodman Track Classic meet is open to Masters in the 100m, 200m, and 400m races again this year, thanks to WSU Head Coach Steve Rainbolt and Assistant Head Coach John Wise.   We will have Masters Heats with the College Division on Saturday, April 15th.   All ages will run together in one heat and entries are limited to eight (8) for each event.

We have three indications of interest for the 100 and 200 so far.  Please contact Amazing Larry Staton at masters@shockertrackclub.com if you want to run.

STC Sanctions Heartland Golden Games

Shocker Track Club will sponsor and has sanctioned through USATF The Heartland Golden Games as the Missouri Valley Association Senior Masters Championship meet for athletes age 50 and older.  The meet will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Friends University’s Hoyt Athletic Field in Wichita, Kansas.  Friends University is at 2100 West University Street.

Bahner Gets Busy

Elite Team member Austin Bahner set a new personal best in the Heptathlon with a score of 5715 at the Wichita State Herm Wilson Invitational.  Bahner set season bests in the 60m and long jump, tied his personal best in the 60m hurdles, and set new personal bests in the shot put and pole vault while claiming victory in the two-day competition.
Shocker Track Club Open Team members Aaron Babbidge (6.96 in the 60m and 22. in the 200m), Joshua Manuel (6.89 in the 60m), and Alex James  (7.78 in the 60m and 25.14 in the 200m), also performed extremely well!

STC Bill Butterworth Indoor Recap and Results

It was a beautiful day, inside and outside, for a track meet!  And the competition and results didn’t disappoint as over 150 Masters, Open, Youth, Collegiate, and Elite athletes showcased a multitude of skills in establishing many new personal records.

Wichita’s own Bob Lida (Masters 80-84) set an unofficial World Record in the 200m with a time of 30.01!  The meet also served as the inaugural race for members of the STC Road Racing Team, as members Curt Rierson (3000m) and Emily Maier (1500m) won their age group races.  Additionally, several Shocker Track Club Elite and Open Team members (Austin Bahner, Aaron Babbidge, Joshua Manual, and Caydrick Bloomquist) performed well.
