Bahner Finishes 7th; US Men & Women Sweep Thorpe Cup

STC Elite Team member, Austin Bahner, finished seventh in the Decathlon in the 2016 Thorpe Cup competition with 7593 points!  The USA Men (38,845 to 37,427) and Women (18,320 to 16,421) swept both competitions over Germany in the annual competition held in Fayetteville, Arkansas on the University of Arkansas campus!

Austin Bahner Competes in Thorpe Cup

STC Elite Team Member Austin Bahner began competing in his third Thorpe Cup Decathlon competition in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday.  He is currently in 6th place overall.  Wichita State University Head Track and Field Coach, Steve Rainbolt, is the Head Men’s Decathlete Coach for this prestigious event! STC Youth Team Members Making Positive Moves

Youth Team Members Isaac Smallwood and Madison Castillo received accolades recently by being acknowledged for their work in the classroom and on the track.  Smallwood, a 6A Triple Jump medalist and horizontal jumper from Wichita Heights High School, was appointed to the prestigious Teen Heroes group of the Wichita-based Real Men Real Heroes (www.realmenrealheroes.org) mentoring organization!  Teen Heroes serve as role models for younger children in the greater Wichita area.  Castillo, a 2015 and 2016 U.S. Paralympic long jumper and recent graduate of Maize High School, will continue her education and athletic career at Friends University in the fall as a member of the Friends Falcon Track and Field Team!  Congratulations to Isaac and Madison and their parents for their great work as students and athletics.  #LIMITLESS

Austin Bahner continues drive towards Olympic Trials

Decathlete and STC Elite Team Member, Austin Bahner, continued his drive toward the Olympic Trials with impressive work at the Wichita State Shocker Open meet on Friday at WSU’s Cessna Stadium!  Pole Vaulter and fellow STC Elite Team Member, Kyle Wait, performed well at the Kansas State Ward Haylett Classic in Manhattan.  Sprinter and STC Open Team Member, Aaron Babbidge, also competed well in the 100 and 200 against strong fields at the Wichita State Shocker Open.

STC Partners with Envision to Support Volunteers Group

The Shocker Track Club (STC) is pleased to announce that Envision, Inc. is sponsoring its Volunteers group. The mission of Envision is to improve the quality of life and provide inspiration for the blind and visually impaired through employment, outreach, rehabilitation, education and research. Envision is one of the largest employers of the blind and visually impaired in the United States. Through this partnership, Envision is expanding its community involvement and support for WSU programs. The nonprofit organization will have the added benefit of reaching a broad cross-section of the community to build awareness of programs and services offered to youth and adults with vision loss, regardless of their ability to pay.

Darren Muci, Shocker Track Club President, stated, “We are honored that Envision has partnered with us to support our Volunteers group. Its logo will adorn our Volunteer t-shirts, and its banner will hang at the Shocker Track Club and Wichita State Track and Field meets!  We also look forward to scheduling track events for adults who are blind or visually impaired at future STC events. STC Open and Elite Athletes Put on a Show!

Shocker Track Club athletes performed well in the Wichita State KT Woodman Track Classic!  Jaimie Bookout (Open Team) cleared 3.82m (12′-6-1/4″) and Kyle Wait (Elite Team) cleared 5.25m (17′-2-3/4″) en route to their respective Pole Vault victories on Saturday afternoon, and late  Friday evening, Matt Byers (Elite Team) threw 67.74m (222′-3″) for his victory in the Javelin!  RESULTS.

Austin Bahner (Elite Team) scored 7672 points to finish 3rd in the Decathlon at the Mt Sac Relays/CA Invitational Multi Event competition in Azusa, CA!  RESULTS
