Competing in his first national meet, STC Elite member Aaron Young finished a respectable 7th with 5322 points at the USA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“Apart from a few events it was a pretty good meet,” Young said. “It was my first experience with a meet of that level of competition and it was a great experience!”
“Not having teammates there made it much harder but I was very grateful Coach Rainbolt was able to coach me.”
Competing in a field that included Olympic Decathlon Silver Medalist Trey Hardee, Young started out with a 7.05 in the 60m to place 4th in the 11-man field. He followed that with a Long Jump of 6.67m/21-10.25, Shot Put of 12.64m/41-5.75, and High Jump of 1.81m/5-11.25 to conclude the first day.
On day two, Young went 8.52 in the 60m hurdles, 4.70m/15-5 in the Pole Vault and ended with a 2:49.94 in the 1000m.
