USATF Officials’ Certification Clinic Scheduled
The Shocker Track Club and Wichita State University Track and Field will co-host a USATF Missouri Valley Association Certification Clinic for certification of new officials, and recertification for current Officials, at the Wichita State University Heskett Center at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

The meet will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Wichita State University Heskett Center.

Bahner Gets Back to Work!
Shocker Track Club Elite Team Member, Austin Bahner, returned to competition in the Wichita State University Indoor Multi Meet and emerged victorious in the Heptathlon with 5283 points! On his way to the overall victory, Bahner won the Pole Vault with a clearance of 4.90m (16′-0-3/4″). Shocker Track Club Open Team Member, Tobias Boese, finished 3rd with 4942 points.

The annual Shocker Track Club Bill Butterworth Indoor Masters Track Meet will again be held at Wichita State University’s Heskett Center. Complete information, as well as Online registration, will be available soon! This meet is again for Masters, Open and Youth competitors. Youth competitors can compete in the Pole Vault, and running events (not including hurdles) up to 1500m.

If you missed the informational meeting, don’t fret! The first practice session for Youth, Open, Masters, and Elite Pole Vaulters is Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 630p until 830p at the USD 259 Northeast Magnet High School, 5550 North Lycée in Bel Aire, Kansas. The school is just north and east of 53rd Street North and Rock Rock. Enter the main doors and walk to the right (east) towards the main gymnasium at the east end of the building. STC Leaders will be ready to help you with registration!

Beautiful Day for the Throws Pentathlon
Temperatures in the 70s and sunny skies provided for a beautiful backdrop for the 2016 STC Throws Pentathlon! Skylar Arneson won the Men’s competition with 4017 points. Bruce Cook, competing in Masters 50-54, finished second overall with 2990 points. Mike Bell (Masters 65-69) with 1872 points, and Charles Shrader (Masters 65-69) with 1821 competed extremely well in the Masters competition.
Kelsey Slawson won the Women’s competition with 3532 points, with Tyra Bickham finishing second with 3111. Kay Glynn competing in Masters 60-64 (1952 points) and Cindy Cook competing in Masters 50-54 (1742) were the only Masters Women competitors.

Calling all Pole Vaulters!
An informational meeting for the indoor season will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., at the USD 259 School Service Center at 3850 North Hydraulic (37th Street and Hydraulic). Complete details for the program will be provided.
This practice and training program is open to Youth, Collegiate Team, Open, Masters and Elite athletes.
Practice begins on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Northeast Magnet High at 5550 North Lycée (this is just east and north of 53rd Street North and Rock Road) in Bel Aire, Kansas, in the main gymnasium.
Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m., to 4:00 p.m.
Registration Now Open for the 2016 Throws Pentathlon!
Like to throw stuff? Registration is now open for the STC Throws Pentathlon – Hammer, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Weight Throw – on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium.
This USATF sanctioned competition is for Elite, Open, Collegiate, and Masters athletes. Masters athletes must bring their own implements. Check in begins at 9:30 a.m., competition begins at 10:30 a.m.
The $25 registration fees provides a t-shirt, lunch, and beverages during the meet. Come on out for a fun day of spirited announcing, lively music, and friendly competition!

STC Youth Team Member Joins Youth Mentoring Group
Shocker Track Club Youth Team member Isaac Smallwood has been appointed to the prestigious Teen Heroes group of the Real Men Real Heroes Mentoring organization. Teen Heroes serve as speakers and mentors and visit classrooms and schools in the Wichita Public School district to discuss the importance of working hard in school and making good choices in life.
