Director of Volunteers Appointment
Long time Board Member, and current Board Futurist, Laura Markuly, was appointed to the position of Director of Volunteers at the January Board Meeting. In her new role, she will be working to identify volunteers to help facilitate Wichita State University, and Shocker Track Club, track meets. The volunteers will help facilitate events (e.g., implement shaggers, bar setters, basket carriers, water deliverers, etc.) or activities at the meets. She will be reaching out to WSU campus student organizations, local businesses, to identify willing and interested individuals.

Hot Vaulting at the River Vault!
The weather was warm, but the southern breeze provided for a great day of pole vaulting at the 2015 River Vault competition! Jack Whitt claimed the Men’s Elite Title with a vault of 18′-7″ (5.66m)! Other champions were – Chris Nilsen (16′-6″) Men’s Open competition, Brittany Kallenberger (13′-6″) Women’s Open competition, Christian Compton of the Shocker Track Club (15′-6″) Youth Boys competition, and Nicole Kallenberger (12′-6″) in the Youth Girls competition.

Officials’ Certification Clinic
Intrigued by the possibility of volunteering at a track meet? Want to give back to track and field? Then becoming a USATF certified Official might be for you! The Shocker Track Club and the USATF Missouri Valley Association will conduct a certification clinic for certification of new officials and recertification at the Wichita State University Heskett Center on Saturday, February 1, 2014 beginning at 8:00 a.m. Individuals attending the clinic must bring their current USATF membership card or current membership number with them to the clinic for verification. Select the Certification link in the Officials/Volunteer pull-down menu for clinic information. See you there!
Certified Officials Needed
The KCAC conference has requested the assistance of the Shocker Track Club to identify certified Officials for its 2014 Indoor Championship meet. The meet will be held in Manhattan, KS at Kansas State University’s Ahearn Field house on February 7 and 8, 2014.
