Like to throw stuff?  Then the 2015 Shocker Track Club Throws Pentathlon is for you!  Click here >> STC 2015 Elite Throws Pentathlon for the event flyer.  This USA Track and Field sanctioned meet is designed for collegiate and post-collegiate athletes.  However Masters athletes may compete and must bring their own age-group implements for competition certification.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 24, 2015; competition begins at 10:00 a.m.  Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium Throws Field (southwest of the stadium) and Shot Put Ring (inside the stadium) are the event locations.

2015 2016 Board Members Elected

The Shocker Track Club elected the following individuals to Board Member seats for the 2015-2016 year (new members in bold) – Darren Muci (President), Chris Ellis (Vice President), Ryan Patton (Treasurer), Larry Staton (Secretary and Director, Masters Team), Steve Rainbolt, John Wise (Head Coach, Elite Team), Chandra Andrews (Assistant Treasurer), Cole Davis (Director, Youth Team), Vic Everett, Bill Faflick, Denis Fraizer, Dylan Hartnett (Director, Elite Team), Joan Hearne, Curtis Hernandez (Head Coach, Youth Team), Amber McGown Hetzendorf, Mike Holladay, Patric Jackson, Emily Green Maier, Laura Markuly (Futurist), J Means, Shamoya Pruitt (Assistant Director, Youth Team), Mark Schwarm, Damian Smithhisler (Shared Seat), and Darius Draudvila (Ex Officio).  Nicholas J. STC Outdoor Masters Meet Scheduled for September 12th

Registration is now open for the Shocker Track Club Outdoor Masters and Open Track Meet!  The meet will be held at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium on Saturday, September 12, 2015.  Adults of all ages and abilities may compete in this USATF sanctioned meet.  Youth may compete in the Pole Vault ONLY!  For questions, contact Larry Staton at masters@shockertrackclub.com.  Complete registration information is available in this flyer >> STC Masters Open Sep 12th 2015 FLYER

STC Youth Team Coaches Paralympics Gold Medalist

When Madison Castillo was 9 months old, her parents were informed she had suffered a stroke at birth.  Her  entire right side was weakened, including her leg and arm.   Her parents were told that she might never walk, much less run.

But that has not deterred Madison as she has developed into a highly competitive athlete!  Now 18 and a member of the Shocker Track Club Youth Team, Madison won a gold medal this summer in the long jump at the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships.

Westar Energy Sponsors Youth Team

Shocker Track Club is pleased to announce a sponsorship partnership with Westar Energy for the 2015-2016 season!

Youth Team Hosts Olympian as Guest Teacher

Retired Elite High Jumper and 2000 Olympian, Nathan Leeper, attended Youth Team practice on Tuesday as a “Guest Teacher” in the high jump.  Leeper, a NCAA National Champion while competing at Kansas State University, is a four-time USATF National Champion with a career personal best of 2.35m (7′-8 1/2″).  He also holds the Wichita State University Cessna Stadium high jump record with a jump of 2.26m (7′-05″).

Hot Vaulting at the River Vault!

The weather was warm, but the southern breeze provided for a great day of pole vaulting at the 2015 River Vault competition! Jack Whitt claimed the Men’s Elite Title with a vault of 18′-7″ (5.66m)!  Other champions were – Chris Nilsen (16′-6″) Men’s Open competition, Brittany Kallenberger (13′-6″) Women’s Open competition, Christian Compton of the Shocker Track Club (15′-6″) Youth Boys competition, and Nicole Kallenberger (12′-6″) in the Youth Girls competition.
