STC Sanctions Heartland Golden Games
Shocker Track Club will sponsor and has sanctioned through USATF The Heartland Golden Games as the Missouri Valley Association Senior Masters Championship meet for athletes age 50 and older. The meet will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Friends University’s Hoyt Athletic Field in Wichita, Kansas. Friends University is at 2100 West University Street.

Youth Outdoor Parent Information Meeting Scheduled
STC is pleased to announce that the first of three Parent Information meetings will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 700p.
The meeting will be held at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium in the Track and Field Team Room.
Parking is available in a small lot off 21st Street between the Charles Koch Arena Practice Gym and the northwest corner of Cessna Stadium. The Team Room door is at the bottom of the ramp that leads to the track. We will post signs to guide you.
Complete information about the 2017 Spring/Summer season will be provided. Registration fees can also be paid at the meeting. The first practice for eligible athletes will be on Thursday, April 6th at 600p.
For planning purposes we have finalized the following base registration pricing structures –
– Join in April – $180
– Join in May – $160
– Join in June – $140
– Join in July – $120
All fees include –
– Coaching and training by experienced Coaches and athletes
– Practice on the Wichita State University Cessna Stadium Track
– Team Wristband
– Free participation in the Shocker Summer Series Thursday Night Track Meets in June and July at Cessna Stadium

New Leadership for Officials Group and Youth Track Team Announced
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointments of Mike Holladay as Director of Officials, and Stephanie Knab as Director of the Youth Team. Mike, a long-time USATF National Level Official, will provide strong oversight and experience in organizing Officials for WSUT&F and STC meets. Mike can be contacted at officials@shockertrackclub.com. Stephanie, a recent graduate of Wichita State and the Track and Field Team as a High Jumper, is a Science Teacher at Curtis Middle School. She will provide strong organizational skills and a strong knowledge of Track and Field in her new leadership role. Congratulations to Mike and Stephanie!
Bahner Finishes 2nd in USATF Indoor National Meet!
Austin Bahner PR’d in the 60m Hurdles (8.31) enroute to a 2nd place finish in the USA Track and Field Indoor National Championship meet! Bahner Heads to USATF Indoor Championship Meet
Decathlete (okay, Heptathlete this time!) Austin Bahner heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for this weekend’s USATF Indoor National Championship meet! Competition begins on Friday in the Albuquerque Convention Center. Meet Central is here . Austin’s seed score of 5715 ranks him 3rd among registered competitors! Austin will be adorned in STC/Adidas gear thanks to the support of Wichita-based Adidas Team Apparel Representative, Scott Snyder!
Youth Outdoor Track and Field
Shocker Track Club Youth Outdoor practice will return this spring/summer with practices at Wichita State University’ Cessna Stadium Track. Practices will begin in early April. Informational meetings will be held in late March. Athletes between the ages of 5 and 19 are eligible to participate. If you have any questions, or would like to be contacted, send an email to youth@shockertrackclub.com. This will be an exciting year with the continuation of the Shocker Summer Series Meets on Thursdays in June/July, and the USATF Junior Olympics in Lawrence, Kansas, in late July.

Bahner Gets Busy
Elite Team member Austin Bahner set a new personal best in the Heptathlon with a score of 5715 at the Wichita State Herm Wilson Invitational. Bahner set season bests in the 60m and long jump, tied his personal best in the 60m hurdles, and set new personal bests in the shot put and pole vault while claiming victory in the two-day competition.
Shocker Track Club Open Team members Aaron Babbidge (6.96 in the 60m and 22. in the 200m), Joshua Manuel (6.89 in the 60m), and Alex James (7.78 in the 60m and 25.14 in the 200m), also performed extremely well!

STC Bill Butterworth Indoor Recap and Results
It was a beautiful day, inside and outside, for a track meet! And the competition and results didn’t disappoint as over 150 Masters, Open, Youth, Collegiate, and Elite athletes showcased a multitude of skills in establishing many new personal records.

Wichita’s own Bob Lida (Masters 80-84) set an unofficial World Record in the 200m with a time of 30.01! The meet also served as the inaugural race for members of the STC Road Racing Team, as members Curt Rierson (3000m) and Emily Maier (1500m) won their age group races. Additionally, several Shocker Track Club Elite and Open Team members (Austin Bahner, Aaron Babbidge, Joshua Manual, and Caydrick Bloomquist) performed well.

USATF Officials’ Certification Clinic Scheduled
The Shocker Track Club and Wichita State University Track and Field will co-host a USATF Missouri Valley Association Certification Clinic for certification of new officials, and recertification for current Officials, at the Wichita State University Heskett Center at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
