Shocker Track Club and Wichita State University Track and Field will co-host a USA Track and Field Officials Certification Clinic on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
The $30 Clinic will be facilitated by leadership of the USATF Missouri Valley Association with assistance from many local certified Officials. Participants must purchase a membership in USATF, and take steps to complete the background check prior to the Clinic.
The Clinic begins at 800a in the Wichita State University Heskett Center in the 2nd floor classroom, and includes individual event instruction presented by experienced Certified Officials. At the conclusion of the Clinic, participants can assist in the facilitation of various events in the Wichita State University Herm Wilson Indoor Track Meet!

Coaches – Seven (7) coaches in multiple events; five with NCAA Div 1 competition experience

STC Youth Track and Field Athlete Performance Combine
Shocker Track Club and Optimal Performance will host a performance combine event for Youth (grades 9 through 12) track and field athletes on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Wichita Sports Forum at 2668 North Greenwich Court!
Various testing events will be held. Representatives from Wichita State University Track & Field, Friends University Track & Field, Mid American Orthopedics and Optimal Performance will be present as guest speakers.
The registration fee is $35.

Tonya Nero Competes Well in Cuba
STC Road Racing Elite Team member, Tonya Nero, finished 2nd in the NACAC Half Marathon Championships on Sunday in Havana, Cuba! Tonya’s time was 1:16:54!

Indoor Pole Vault Training Begins! UPDATED!
Shocker Track Club Pole Vault Training begins!
Practices begin on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 630p to 830p, and will again be held at Northeast Magnet High School at 5550 Lycée (NE of 53rd Street North and Rock Road) in Bel Aire.
Practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday afternoons (swimming pool practice will also be available).
Indoor Pole Vault Coaches will be – Denis Fraizer (Wichita State University), Andrew Brown (University of Nebraska-Kearney), Jaimie Bookout (University of Kansas), Tyler Knight (Wichita State University), and Tina Clausen (Friends University).

Road Racing Team Breaks Out at Pumpkin 5K Run
STC Road Racing Team members participated en masse at the Pumpkin Run 5K on the Wichita State University campus Saturday!
Participants and their places were as follows –
Team Co-Director, Emily Maier, was 25th overall, the 1st female finisher, and 1st place winner in the Women’s 30-34 category in a time of 20:29.43!
Vicky Aguirre was 49th overall, and 1st place female place winner in the 35-39 category in a time of 22:38.34!
Bob Hornung was 5th overall, and 1st place male winner in the 45-49 category in a time of 18:12.46!
Lee Owens was 26th overall, and 2nd place male in the 45-49 category in a time of 20:36.69!
Sam Owens was 102nd overall, and 4th place male in the 35-39 category in a time of 25:06.92!
Kathy Chambers was 101st overall, and 1st place female in the 40-44 category in a time of 25:05.19!
David Bole was 94th overall, and 3rd place male in the 35-39 category in a time of 24:32.22!
Throws Pentathlon Ends Before It Pours!
The 2017 STC Throws Pentathlon completed competition just prior to a torrential downpour Saturday afternoon at Wichita State University’s Throws Venues.
Shocker Track Club Elite Team member, Skylar Arneson, won the Men’s Open competition with 3548 points after winning the individual competitions in the Hammer, Shot Put, and Weight Throw. Isaiah Evans finished second with 31 56 points.
Meagan Williams won the Women’s Open competition with 3674 points after winning the individual competitions in the Hammer, Javelin and Weight Throw. Kelsey Slawson finished second with 3496 points.
Dave Brandt, won the Men’s Masters competition with 2613 points.
Myrle Mensey, competing in Masters 65-69, won the Women’s Masters competition with 2445 points

Attention STC Throws Pentathlon Participants – TIME CHANGE!
Due to projected rain and storms on Saturday afternoon, competition start has been moved to 10:00 a.m. Registration and implement certification will thus begin at 9:00 a.m.
The order of competition will also be changed as follows – Hammer, Javelin, Discus. Shot Put and Weight Throw will be conducted indoors at the Wichita State Heskett Center. Contact Darren Muci at 316-993-6824 or president@shockertrackclub.com if you have questions!

Shocker Track Club is pleased to introduce a new initiative – Shocker Track Backers!
The Shocker Track Backers (STB) is a fan based effort focused on promoting WSU Track and Field / Cross Country. STB provides encouragement for athletes through media coverage of events and meets, while bringing comprehensive coverage of WSU T&F XC to Shocker Fans. STB also serves as a conduit in providing the opportunity for the financial support of the WSU T&F XC program.
STB is an independent, fan based organization and not affiliated with, nor receiving any financial contribution from, Wichita State University.
